Eight years ago a Stroud Regional Police Officer, Jeff Olsen died by suicide, which has a very high rate among police. He left behind two young sons. I started a benefit for him with a goal of raising $10,000 for his son’s college fund. We completed that goal two years ago. We still throw the benefit every year to celebrate his life but with the money raised we use it to give a needy family a nice Christmas. After the benefit on November 9th at Rudy’s we select another date in December and have a wrapping party. We take the money from the benefit and buy toys, food, etc and we meet again at Rudy’s bar. We then wrap all the presents and deliver them in a Police Truck with Santa Clause to the family’s house. All are welcome to participate in the benefit.
Sincerely, Officer Christopher Shelly Continue reading
